Thame Town Cricket Club

Thame Town CC is a well established cricket club in the County of Oxfordshire. Situated in the centre of the historic market town of Thame, the Club enjoys a picturesque setting at Church Meadow.

The Club caters for the serious and committed adult and youth competitive cricketers as well as those who enjoy only the occasional game. The Club currently plays in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League, and the MP Sports Cherwell League. It fields three senior teams on Saturdays and one on Sundays, as well as five junior teams in respective Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire leagues.

We also run a number of friendly matches throughout the season for all age groups. The season is from April to September, with indoor leagues and training taking place in the other months of the year.

The Club is recognised by the England and Wales Cricket Board as one of four ‘Focus Clubs’ in South Oxfordshire by virtue of its standards, youth coaching programmes, Clubmark status and links with Lord Williams School which has Sports College status.

In 2009 we had 80 Adult Playing Members, 50 Social and Family Members and 160 Junior Members. We employ a permanent, all-year Professional Club Coach and have an Overseas Professional for the summer season.

News

• The annual senior awards evening saw a great evening at Thame Town Cricket Club where the team managers for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and U'17's teams highlighted the highs and lows of the seasons and awarded the prizes for the batsmen and bowler for each team. With a good attendance and excellent food it was a great evening to end the season.


• Thame Town Cricket Club finished their season last week with a home win in the friendly against SCCC on Sunday. Next season the First XI will play in the Home Counties Division 2 for the tenth successive year, the Seconds will again be in Cherwell Division 5, whilst the Thirds have gained promotion to Cherwell Division 9.
• The Club would like to thank all their sponsors and supporters who made 2011 another successful season. Last season Farol Limited provided the Club with a hydraulic mower which has proved to be invaluable at Church Meadow.

New Cricket Nets

The new cricket nets are now complete and in full use after the official opening by the Lord Mayor, David Bretherton, on Friday 3rd June. The state-of-the-art 3 lane cricket nets have the latest 3G astroturf for the bowling end surface whilst high quality mats for the batting area.

Special thanks goes to South Oxfordshire District Council, Oxfordshire Community Foundation and various other organisations for their grants and donations. Combined with many fund raising events over the last 18 months the New Nets have become a reality for the cricket club and will be used extensively by all the age groups and teams. A great addition for Thame Town Cricket Club.
